Privacy Policy
There are no accounts and no passwords. Your designs live in the link and in your browser. The only personal data we keep is the email you use at checkout, and this page explains exactly where it goes.
THE SHORT VERSION
DATA THAT STAYS IN YOUR BROWSER
Your design itself is encoded in the page address (the part after #), which is why you can bookmark or share it. In addition, the site stores a few things in your browser's local storage on this device only:
- Purchase records for designs you have unlocked: the design, its unlock token, a short label, and when you bought it. This is what makes the list and guide open without signing in.
- Your ZIP code, if you enter one, so price estimates and frost-depth guidance match your region. The ZIP is sent to our server with each estimate request to pick the regional pricing table, and is not stored there.
- Preferences such as your unit system (feet or metres) and which shopping-list items you have checked off.
Local storage is not a cookie and is never sent to us on its own. Clearing your browser's site data removes it; your unlock email or “Sign in” brings purchases back.
WHEN YOU BUY AN UNLOCK
Checkout happens on Stripe's hosted payment page. Stripe collects your card details and billing information under its own privacy policy; we never see or store your card number. Stripe keeps transaction records as payment rules require.
After a successful payment, Stripe tells us:
- the email address you entered at checkout,
- the amount, currency, and a Stripe session and payment identifier,
- a fingerprint of the design you unlocked (not your name or address).
We write that record to a purchase ledger hosted on Upstash (a Redis database provisioned through Vercel). The ledger is indexed by your email so we can find your purchases when you sign in, and so that a refund or dispute from Stripe can switch the matching unlock off. We keep ledger records for as long as the unlock is valid, plus whatever period tax and payment rules require.
EMAILS WE SEND
We send transactional email only, through Resend, from purchases@outsideblueprint.com. Resend processes your email address and the message content in order to deliver it.
- Purchase email: sent once after checkout, containing your permanent unlock link.
- Sign-in email: when you enter an email under “Sign in” on the home page, we look up that address in the ledger (and in Stripe, for older purchases) and email a link that restores your unlocked designs on that device. We always respond the same way whether or not the address has purchases, so the form cannot be used to check whether someone is a customer. Requests are rate-limited.
We do not send newsletters or marketing email, and there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
ANALYTICS AND HOSTING
The site is hosted on Vercel. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages and referrers bring people in. It does not use cookies or track you across sites; visitors are counted using a hashed, short-lived identifier that is not stored with any personal data.
Like any web host, Vercel's servers briefly log request details, including your IP address, for security and troubleshooting. We also hold IP addresses in memory for a few minutes to rate-limit checkout and sign-in requests. We do not build profiles from any of this.
WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH
Only the services named above, each for the single job described: Stripe (payments), Upstash via Vercel (purchase ledger), Resend (email delivery), and Vercel (hosting and analytics). We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
- Delete your purchase record. Email us from the checkout address and we will remove it from the ledger. Note that this also removes our ability to restore the purchase or issue a refund, so keep your unlock email first.
- See what we hold. Email us and we will send the ledger entries for your address.
- Clear local data.Use your browser's site-data controls for outsideblueprint.com.
If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (for example the EU, UK, or California), you can exercise them by emailing us; we will respond within the time your law requires.
CHILDREN
The site is a construction-planning tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
CHANGES
If we add a service or change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top.
